Written by Pouchers Desk
Updated over 3 months ago

Freezing your virtual dollar card is a quick and secure way to protect your funds if you notice suspicious activity, unauthorised charges, or recurring debits you no longer want. It can also be triggered by the system for multiple failed transactions or usage on unauthorized platforms.

❄️ How to Freeze Your Card

Follow these steps to freeze your virtual dollar card:

  1. Log in to your Pouchers app

  2. Tap Card at the bottom of your screen

  3. Select your Virtual Dollar Card

  4. Tap Manage (located below the card)

  5. Select Freeze Card

  6. Enter your transaction PIN to confirm

✅ Your card will be frozen instantly, and no further transactions will be processed until you unfreeze it.

🔓 How to Unfreeze Your Card

You can unfreeze your card anytime by following the same steps:

  1. Log in to your Pouchers app

  2. Tap Card at the bottom of your screen

  3. Select your Virtual Dollar Card

  4. Tap Manage

  5. Select Unfreeze Card

  6. Enter your transaction PIN

✅ Your card will be unfrozen and ready for use immediately.

⚠️ Why Your Card May Freeze Automatically

If your card gets frozen even when you didn’t freeze it yourself, don’t worry — this is a security measure to protect your funds.

Your card may be automatically frozen if:

  • It’s used on unauthorised platforms

  • It’s used in restricted regions

  • There are two failed attempts on a high-risk merchant or platform

  • There’s an insufficient balance for a transaction

This helps prevent your card from being deleted or permanently restricted by our card provider.

👉 You can unfreeze your card yourself (see How to Unfreeze Your Card above) or reach out to support if you need help.

✅ Best Practices to Keep Your Card Active

To avoid card freezes, declines, or restrictions:

  • Use your billing address exactly as it appears in your app

  • Avoid payments on high-risk platforms (e.g. gambling, dating, or crypto-related sites)

  • Do not attempt transactions in restricted countries

  • Avoid repeated failed transactions, as they may trigger temporary holds

  • Always ensure your card has more funds than the amount you’re paying (to cover possible merchant charges)
